Skillfully marrying Asian culinary tradition with Southern flavor, Chef Calvin Phan has produced a bold new menu that draws upon his Vietnamese heritage as well as his travels throughout Asia and the world. The versatile menu ranges from Southern fried chicken to Siam Duck to tom yum soup. Despite the variety, the concise menu proves that nothing here is haphazard. Each dish is carefully crafted, delicious on its own and in concert with the rest of the menu, especially  their well-loved lychee martini. The decor is just as eclectic as the cuisine, combining Thai decor with other miscellanea. Together, the maximalist interior crafts an imaginative bohemian charm that still feels homey. Reservations are difficult to score, but this rare fusion experience makes Poor Calvin’s worth the wait.
