I’ve been following Next Stop Vegan for years and have always been impressed with their dedication to bringing vegan options to the Bronx and their awareness of meat’s impact on the environment.  I’ve sampled some of their food in the past (specifically their Vegan Chimi Burger) and I was excited to head over to their first brick & mortar location in the Bronx (strictly takeout unless you want to eat standing against a slab of wood attached to the wall). I finally stopped in and I’ve got to say with literally no exaggeration at all: the food here is PHENOMENAL. This is good food with a mission.  I tried out the Truffle Mozzarella Mac n Cheese Mushroom Burger and it blew my damn socks off by being one of the heartiest and tastiest burgers I’ve ever had. Period. The mac and cheese was creamy, the truffle was subtle and flavorful and the mushroom was made perfectly. Before they snagged a permanent location, I’d tasted the Patacon Chimi burger (house-made patty, cabbage, tomatoes, red onions, and a housemade chimi sauce to die for). This one wasn’t just EPIC and DELICIOUS—it damn near put me to sleep. I was thisclose to a food coma. You really can’t go wrong with a burger when your bread is a massive plantain. NSV offers up incredible Dominican dishes minus the meat, and believe me when I say your stomach won’t miss anything that’s not on the menu.
