Omar’s is an exciting spot steeped in a vibrant love for the Caribbean. Guests are saturated with a taste that places heritage at the fore with lush afro-artworks from portraiture to subtler details like their underlying zinc paneling. Pastel shuttered windows frame landscapes “seen” through walls of exposed brick, as if windowed in a home away from home. And we haven’t even gotten to the menu yet. There is a love for the people and unique production of the Caribbean, and Omar’s seeks to bring that love within its curation of Nu Jamaican food from classic escovitch fish to lobster served with festival, and spins on old classics like the curry oxtail.
