Walk a few blocks from the 2nd Avenue F and you’ll find Sweet Chick, boasting “the best chicken and waffles on planet Earth.” It’s a bold claim, but Sweet Chick delivers, with crispy yet juicy chicken and perfectly fluffy waffles in a multitude of flavors. We also loved the mac n’ cheese (served in a 3-cheese bechamel, and topped with garlic-parmesan breadcrumbs), and the incredible molasses brussels sprouts. Sweet Chick has a few locations in the city, but our fave is the LES branch, which somehow cultivates weekend-type joy every day of the week. The aesthetic is perfectly rustic, the ideal vibe for a meal of pure Southern comfort. And with Nas as an investor, expect patrons clad in the latest fashion and hip hop and r&b on the stereo. A trendy millennial brunch hub with chicken blessed by somebody’s Southern grandma.
