Urban Vegan Kitchen
Electric, trendy, and hip, Urban Vegan delivers a decidedly cool take on vegan cuisine. Graffiti-adorned walls and prints of icons like Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and Muhammed Ali bolster the eatery’s celebration of veggie-forward food’s funkier side. The menu is an all veganized, ethnic mashup of sorts—try the korean BBQ wings, jackfruit fajita quesadilla, or chili cheese fries. There’s an abundance of fresh produce, of course, but UVK stands out for nourishing, hearty cuisine that will satisfy vegans and omnivores alike. The restaurant not only delivers unexpected vegan spins on everything from po’ boys to Belgian waffles, but also reminds us that home fries and onion rings have always been veggie. An array of cocktails (we especially enjoyed the classic coquito and My Guy sangria), a soundtrack of 80s and 90s hits, and even the occasional live music performance, seals UVK’s standout place among NYC’s growing vegan scene.
