An eclectic French-American restaurant with unique African decor, Yatenga is proving that there’s beauty in simplicity (and that French doesn’t have to be posh). The menu highlights classic entrees done right. For brunch, try the croque monsieur, fluffy French toast, and pancakes. At dinner, we loved the seafood pasta and steak au poivre. The decor combines African art and abstract visuals to exude an Afrofuturistic energy that you weren’t expecting. Don’t come expecting a formal meal: the staff is laid back, letting you chill out and eat in peace. Good for a quirky date night, it’s also a brunch favorite among Harlem locals.
